To stir things up a bit, I've introduced a print to the reward options today. I received a lot of nice feedback for the panel featuring Janaka's tower in Chapter 4 and I thought I might attract some more new backers if I turned it into an exclusive print for the kickstarter campaign:
The print is 30x40cm and printed on high quality paper. You'll receive it handsigned and with the kickstarter exclusive blue Wormseal stamp. The print is available for $35 but you can also add it to any other reward. More info about that on the kickstarter project homepage. My plan is, to add a few more prints to the list of rewards during the next weeks.
Kann man jetzt auch aus Deutschland kickstarten oder lässt du es über einen Amerikaner laufen?
ReplyDeleteMein Literaturagent ist Amerikaner und über den läuft die ganze Sache.
DeleteThought I would let you know.
ReplyDeleteI still plan on putting money into this. But I just purchased your Video2Brain digital painting course. I have been painting in photoshop for a long time but I was so curious about your techniques. *Waiting for it to finish downloading*
That was a great set of Videos. Really what I loved picking up was creating the brushes. I have always meant to mess around with it a bit more. I know how to create some textures from photos and such. But that leaf brush blew me away. I didn't know you could make the leafs follow your stroke, I had my hands on my head and my mouth wide open at that part. So I present, my first test making and using my leaf brush ( http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/400/leafbrushtest.jpg ) I found when I stroked from left to right the leafs pointed up, but when I would stroke right to left the leafs pointed down. Doing quick circles I created those flower patterns in that image. Im not exactly sure how old that video is compared to what you do now, but do you still use that abstract shapes to create a scene much anymore? Or in the Wormworld Saga illustrations? They seem a bit more planned out.
DeleteYou can do incredible stuff with the right brush settings. The direction sensitive brush is also very good for smoke and clouds and also for fur. Combine it with color variations and random size variations and you have a lush green lawn in no time! However, in the comic I'm not using automatic brushes like these. They always tend to look a little bit too perfect and you can tell the defference between hand painted and generated details. For the comic I want everything to be painted by hand. A little bit of personality in every leaf. :) But these tricks are great for concepts and stuff where time es money. I'm glad that you like the videos. I'm planning to do more in the future. there's so much stuff to talk about...
DeleteYou could probably do a whole video on just making different brushes, how to think about creating the brush, and how to use them. Also go into more depth about not using them all the time for everything because then it can take a bit of the character out of it. You did do the video of painting Wormworld in his bedroom. If you ever get the chance to do one of those but with one of your large scale out door scenes I think that could be very informative as well. (I am curious if you get any money off that how to paint video set I bought?)
DeleteI asked the family and we all 5 agreed to sponsor you again. Great work Daniel and an inspiration, proving the 'small man' can get things done!
ReplyDeleteHi Daniel,
ReplyDeleteI´m following your beautiful saga and your struggle to make a living of if since a few days after chapter ones release. I always felt like supporting you and your new rewards get me hooked even more. But I don´t have or want a credit card. Does that mean I cannot support your kickstarter campaign?
Dear Anonymous, re payment options
ReplyDeleteKickstarter uses the Amazon Payment system, which means in many countries you can also pay by different methods. Eg. in Germany you can somehow directly connect your bank account and Amazon. You basically have to click through and see what payment options you are offered, where ever you live.
Thanks Moritz,
ReplyDeleteI do have a german Amazon-account, but I did not find out how to change from the kickstarter-linked -.com to -.de. They only offer me creditcard-payment.
I'll have a closer look into this since you are not the only one having that problem.
ReplyDeleteI just upped my pledge to $35 from $25 (plus $2.50 for shipping since I live in Canada)! I really hope you (and we) achieve the goal! We are definitely getting there.
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to ask here, since I've tweeted you a couple times but you seem to be busy, which I understand. My question is - will the Wormworld Saga app on iPad be updated for the Retina display? I notice the icon itself is not Retina ready yet. It's a small thing but I am just curious since I am very proud to have your app on my home screen! =)
