150.000 reads - No Words!

I was genuinely shocked this morning when I checked Google Analytics. Yesterday I had mentally prepared for announcing the 100.000th read at the weekend. The numbers were pointing into that direction and I was utterly amazed by the thought that within two weeks, so many people would have read the first chapter. Also, 100.000 was like the "magic number" for me. That was the number of readers I dreamed of reaching over the whole YEAR when I launched the website.

This morning, the number of reads had again doubled in total over night and is now 150.000. I really have no words right at the moment to express you how much I appreciate all this attention Jonas and his adventure receives from you. Seriously, no words!

I have processed the first batch of donations from you so there are a lot of new names listed in the credits now. Thank you all for your generosity! The money opens up brand new perspectives for me and I will make sure to invest it in ways to speed up the creation of the Wormworld Saga.

I came up with the idea, to post a little treat for you and hereby I announce that every 100 contributions (donations and print purchases) a selected fan artwork will be displayed in the credits. The first image is already online and it was created by the super talented Jana Schirmer. Go check it out! Here's a little teaser:

Thanks to Jana for this wonderful artwork and thanks to you all for your support, your comments and all the love you express towards the Wormworld Saga!

  1. My donation was tiny for I am but an Icelandic student with a new baby in the crib but I have tweeted, buzzed, liked, digged and shared your story. Thank you and I hope you will be able to give us chapter 2 within the year.

  2. I donated as well and look forward to purchasing some prints too. Very intricate drawings, very beautiful too. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I'm promoting it to all my family members and their little ones.

  4. I guess you should start taking a mental note for the first million views sooner than you think, Daniel. Your work is amazing.

  5. This is a good question ... the internet is big ... and so its hard to tell if the peak will be those 150.000, or 500.000, 1million or if it goes even beyond that.

And the same goes with those donations ... i mean, how much would be enough for fulltime-wormworld? :D

    Wish you the best!
May the next chapter coming soon. :)

  9. Stumbled upon this on Reddit and haven't looked at everything on your site, but it said in a thread that you are doing art on top of a full time job.
I sincerely hope life will let you quit the full time job to dedicate yourself to your amazing art (unless you do love your job :p).
To help with this I will now browse your site a bit more and try to find where the donation thingy is ;)

  14. I came over here from Jason Brubaker's reMind blog and I want to say that I'm impressed. Your work looks pretty neat so far - the art style reminds me of contemporary animation like Dreamworks stuff.

I'm working on my own work too - a whole series in fact - and I can sympathize that it's not easy. Since you use Google Analytics too to track your stats, I want to warn you that you should be too engrossed in stats. Your priority should be to continue offering quality content.

That said, you've got something going here so keep it up.

  15. Love the arstyle. Reminds me a lot of an old game called Willy Beamish.

You also made Kotaku a few days ago:

  16. Thanks to you all for your feedback and your support!

    @ Lars:

The Wormworld Saga won't run on donations only. And I don't want it to. I don't want to load the burden of paying for my efforts on the few shoulders of the fortunate people who can afford a donation. Ideally, every fan of the Wormworld Saga would only have to pay a fraction of a dollar to support the livelihood of my family. This year I'm going to work out a way so that can happen. There will always be a free online version of the Wormworld Saga though. I believe in the power of free!

That said, I really deeply appreciate the contribution of all donators so far. The money means new possibilities for me to pave the way to the day when the Wormworld Saga will be able to support itself.

  17. Finally read it. I'd been waiting for this for such a long time now, and I kept putting off reading it until I felt I found the "perfect" time. It was worth every second of the wait. Your artwork is fantastic, and the flow of the story is engaging. It's a very warm tale brimming with adventure and curiosity, and Jonas hasn't even gone anywhere beyond the grandma's house yet. Amazing!

When will the prints be ready? Keep up the good work!
