It looks like I have the pleasure to greet a lot of new readers! Yesterday more people read the first chapter than on all previous days together. I cannot tell you how overwhelming this is for me. I was buried under an avalanche of mails and I directly want to appologize to all donators that it will take me some days until I can process all your mails and put your names into the credits. Also I want to appologize to those of you who took the time to send me an email that I didn't replyto. I read them all and I'm very thankful for your feedback. It really makes me happy to learn about all your experiences with the first chapter and I'm immensly motivated to keep up to your expectations for the next chapter.
The launch of the prints shop will most likely be delayed into the next week. I really have to get organized in order to deal with this new situation and I guess having to deal with print orders right now would completely derail me.
Thank you all for your outstanding support!

I, too, arrived here via BoingBoing. My thinking was if BB links to it, it must be good. I was wrong. The comic is not just good, it is fantastic. The artwork is beautiful, I love the feel of the story, and the infinite canvas makes it perfect (at least for me). Once the print shop is open, I will definitely buy a copy. Thank you for this wonderful story - or rather for the first chapter of what, I hope, will be a wonderful story; and please, please, please keep it coming.
ReplyDeleteI reached the bottom of the first chapter and frantically clicked around trying to find the link for chapter two. More more more, my brain cried! It is so very very beautiful, the story seems of the iconic sort that all revelers in childhood imagination can relate to and love- the journey into a fantastic world through a portal. The artwork itself has a quality which I find rare in online comics - evocative and capable of sucking me and letting me forget the media with which it is being portrayed - my only other experience with this is are the comics Bone and Mouseguard, which, of course, are on paper. Thank you! This shall be widely recommended! And keep it coming :) -vibeke, Denmark.
ReplyDeleteThe only obvious question after getting to the bottom of the whole page/chapter was this: what happened next? I can't wait to see/read the next chapter. :) Beautiful. The other pieces of art I've seen on your site just got me more excited to see what happens to Jonas next.
ReplyDeleteI think you'll have a million readers within a month.
ReplyDeleteHi Daniel, your comic made my day, can't wait for the nexy chapter. I've never seen so beautiful a graphic novel before, and I just want to be in the secret hideout with Jonas!
ReplyDeleteA truly beautiful comic, so easy to read, so well designed and I simply can not wait for chapter two. Growing up in the country and then moving to the city, the idea of adventures out of a house in the country is exciting to me. Keep it coming and I'll be checking back every day and recommending it every day. If the beauty of this comic remains on the same level as chapter one (and why wouldn't it), I'll certainly be purchasing a copy when in print.
ReplyDeleteAges ago I stumbled upon the picture you did of the boy staring into the and the world there, while sitting in the loft. That prompted me to check you out, your artwork etc, and I came across this blog and have been following since.
ReplyDeleteNo need to say I really looked forward to the release of the first chapter, and I have certainly not been disappointed.
Well done and good luck on it all!
Cheers,
Pia
Daniel,
ReplyDeleteIt is incredibly rare for me to be touched and nearly moved to tears by a single image. That image of the sunset with the car on the freeway nearly moved me to tears with its painterly colors and beauty.
Can't wait to see more! Keep going mate! DON'T STOP!
Daniel ,
ReplyDeleteWell I just seen the picture of the boy in the attic on reddit.com and I looked at it for like 20 minutes daydreaming. Its my wallpaper now. This needs to be made into a animated movie. I wanted to see him get up and walk into that picture. I believe you have a bright and prosperous future ahead. Keep up the awesome work.

At first, I thought it was a comic about Worms, the computer game. But reading deeper, I found out it was a beautifully written graphic novel. Keep up the amazing work!!
ReplyDeleteHi Daniel,
ReplyDeleteI just want to say, I read about your comic of the "Wormworld Saga", and I am totally hooked. Such a beautiful layout and drawing, and the writing totally draws me into the protagonist's world. Just fantastic by any measure. I am looking forward to the adventure ahead!

Dinosaur Comics linked to you yesterday... Senor North knows his stuff! I'll be reading til the end and telling my friends.
ReplyDeleteI came here from Reddit.com. Your artwork is fantastic and your story is already riveting. I can't wait to hear more - I'm going to donate today in the hopes that you're able to work full-time on this project.
ReplyDeleteCame here via Reddit.
ReplyDeleteLOVED the first chapter, and like a few others who commented above, I looked in desperation for the link to Chapter 2! I am hooked.
I found you through a post on Kotaku.com
ReplyDeleteI love the first chapter and I can't wait to see more. I'm an artist at a game studio and have dreamed of doing something like this for my own story for some time. Your work is truly inspiring so thank you! I've shown the comic to all the artists here and everyone is quite impressed. You have great lighting in your images. Hope to see more soon!
Hello Daniel. I wanted to let you know you have also been Reddited. (www.reddit.com) So be warned, you might receive even MORE traffic and fans. I am one of your newest fans because of Reddit. Great work sir!
ReplyDeleteAlso, in case you were curious, this is the thread on Reddit about your incredible piece "The Journey Begins."

ReplyDeleteThank arstechnica.com
ReplyDeleteReddit sent me here. :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent comic. Looking forward to more.
ReplyDeleteI came here via Reddit!Just wanted to compliment the great work you did on the first chapter! I will be donating soon so that you can keep up the good work! :)
ReplyDeleteJust another anonymous commenter who donated 5 euros to the hope that you will one day be a full time graphic novelist/artist!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the printmaking shop to come online so I can start purchasing prints for my drab and uninteresting walls. They're nothing at all like the world you've created!
This first chapter was amazing! I stumbled upon it and was immediately captivated by the story and illustrations. There is some real potential to be the next big series/saga popular among kids everywhere!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and good luck on your future chapters!

I'm stunned by chapter 1. Genuinely moved and thoroughly captivated. I know you're working hard, but please post chapter 2 as soon as possible...
ReplyDeleteDaniel, I love the first chapter and I love the concept! I, too, found your website through a wallpaper link on reddit of the kid sitting in front of the painting. I really hope you keep this going, because I'm eager to read it all the way through. Best of luck, I'll contribute when I can. :)
ReplyDeleteFinding people like you is why I love the internet. Thank you for sharing. Is there a donate button here?
ReplyDelete@betan: There is indeed, it's near the top-left on the main wormworldsaga.com site.
ReplyDelete@Daniel Lieske: Chapter 1 was the most wonderful thing I've read in a good while. I've donated in the hope that it might help you afford to continue the series full-time.
I re-read Chapter 1 last night on both my iPad and my nookColor. The infinite page layout is PERFECT for these tablet devices. It's like holding the comic in my hand. The thought occurred to me that the graphic detail just glows on the screen and I'm not sure how it will look in print but I'm standing in line to get a hardcopy too. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Sehr schön! Bravo! I can't wait for the next chapter.
ReplyDeleteI especially like the single-web-page, scroll-down format. Eliminating distracting "back/forward" links helps draw the reader more fully into the story -- to me, it felt like falling into a well!
Thank you so much.
I just read the first chapter, GREAT WORK, very nice and worm drawings and world!!!
ReplyDeleteNow I must wait for second... :( :)
Exquisitely beautiful imagery interlaced with wonderful youthful narrative.
