Lifesigns

After I've received a couple of emails in which people were asking if everything was alright with me I figured I should post at least a small update. Things indeed became mixed up quite a bit around here. It's too early to get into the details but I can definitely say that the production of Chapter 6 is delayed. There's going to be some important meetings in the next few weeks and after those I'll be able to make an estimation about the release of the next chapter. I'll also give a more detailed account of everything then. Right at the moment it's all a bit too complicated and there's also things that I just can't talk about yet.

I really appreciate that people care about my wellbeing and I'm really sorry that I can't write a more satisfying update just yet. I hope that everyone's enjoying the summer (at least in those regions where it's summer right now) and I'll do my best to prepare some excitement for the dark time of the year.

  2. Only a true artist can truly enrich the expression many of us share and then give such a meaningful response ... all in a single image! Looking forward to hearing what is happening. Cheers!

  9. Am I the only one who think that 23.729$ for 5 chapters in 2 years without knowing if the story will continue or when isn't exactly a fair deal?

    Just my two cents.

  10. I'm currently writing on a new blog post. It's going to be a massive update and it's going to take me a few more days to complete. I'd love things to go faster but that's just the way it is.

    @ Clayton:

In my next update I will also shed some light on the financial aspect of the project. This should provide you some more insight that will be helpful to judge the fairness of the deal. In the meantime I would really be interested in your opinion on what the 5 chapters of the Wormworld Saga SHOULD have cost or how the deal should be shaped in order to feel fair to you.

    1. I have no idea, Daniel. I'm not a writer or a comic artist. All i know is, you said that if you got X money you'll write us the rest of the story. You've never said "give me money for a story that will never be complete or that requires forever to be write". You've never been specific. All i (or we) have were a load of "hey, thanks! Here is 3 chapters, now you'll find me at this convention, you'll find me at that convention, we've made shirts, cups, videoclip and gadgets, we're having good time here, check me out on this mag".

All things that lives around something that's far from being completed.

Furthemore, after some updates you even stop writing here. All i have now it's a nervous reply. With all the respect, that really looks like someone who just took the money and run away. If it's not a honesty problem (i hope not), surely it's a marketing fail.

Personally I'm not interested in the app for Android or Apple (the app needs months to be updated with a chapter i've already readed 23 times on desktop, so..) nor the behind the scenes, or the conventions or the photos or whatever except the story.

I mean, it's like Star Wars stopped the film at the 50th minute for showing George Lucas at some conventions, the camera guy working or someone trying to sell me some stuff. It's a little bit early.

I'm not hating, i'm a big fan of this saga. I just want to read it. That's it.

    2. I get the general idea of your criticism. I guess you are either used to media and entertainment that is created by big companies and is produced and published in a timely fashion OR, when you are following independent artists, you are used to a clear communication about the progress of the project and its status. My mistake might have been - and might still be - that I'm trying to mimic the old publishing world by talking about the progress of the project but not so much about the struggle. It's PR like the big companies would do it. Maybe I make the project look too professional on the outside. Maybe I have to find a way to make it more clear which of my plans in the past have failed and which have not and what my strategy looks like to make it through with the project. I certainly thank you for your feedback but I also want to let you know that I'm pondering these questions for quite some time now. And to add this little thing: there is no money to run away with.

  11. I hope things work out in your favor. Also, a question has been eating at me: how old is Jonas intended to be exactly? I know it's not quite related to the post, but I'm genuinely curious.

    1. Although I never mention it directly in the story, Jonas follows a typical German school career which means that he'd entered elementary school with 6 and leaves it aged 10 in Chapter 1.

  12. Thank you. In the English translation it says, he's entering high school, which threw me off (in the states, a student enters high school at 14, typically).

    1. Yes, I have to admit that I didn't properly research it back then. A more correct translation would have been "middle school" or "junior high" I guess.

    2. Whatever choice you made would have thrown some people off - your translation is perfectly accurate for the UK, Australia (and I'd assume the rest of the Commonwealth too). School system terminology is very country dependent.
